Professional experience:

Reader in Economics, Cass Business School, Formerly Imperial College Management School, Assistant Professor of Economics, London Business School BA Oxford, MSc and PhD London Dr Szymanski is an industrial economist and in recent years has specialised in the economics of sports. He has published in a number of leading scholarly journals including the Journal of Political Economy and the Economic Journal. As well as academic articles he written a book on the football business and provides regular comments on the sports business for press and broadcast media. In addition to his academic research has provided expert testimony in court for the UK competition authority on football broadcasting rights, and advised the UK government on national sports policy. He is an active business consultant to the public and private sectors on a broad range of economic issues.
